History

Founding

Founding
Trinitas Christian School was established in 1999 by a group of like-minded families who desired a Christ-centered and classical education for their children. On August 23, 1999, Trinitas began its first year of ministry as Northwest Florida’s first classical school. On that day we welcomed twenty-seven enthusiastic students in Kindergarten through sixth grade to our campus at Northeast Presbyterian Church in Pensacola.

Our Own Place
Enrollment doubled the very next year, so we quickly outgrew our space. In 2001 Trinitas moved onto the campus of Cokesbury United Methodist Church at Summit. That campus sustained the school’s growth for the next four years. In 2005 Trinitas built a new 24,000 sq ft school on Johnson Avenue where it is currently located.

First Graduates

First Graduates
The First Graduates
Also in 2005 Trinitas graduated its very first students and has had a graduating class each year since. There have been more than 100 Trinitas graduates who have survived writing and defending their senior thesis since 2005, including thirteen who have been part of the National Merit Scholarship Competition as a Commended Student or higher. 99% of Trinitas grads have gone on to colleges and universities such as Furman, Auburn, Florida, Hillsdale, Washington and Lee, Rice, Wheaton, and New Saint Andrews to name a few.

Accreditation
In 2009 Trinitas Christian School became fully accredited by the Association of Classical Christian Schools and remains one of about fifty such accredited schools in the world today. Trinitas has matured from a start-up to a well-respected classical Christian school celebrating twenty-plus years of service to Pensacola area families who long for a Christ-centered, Bible-based education for their children but refuse to compromise on academics.

A Christ-Centered Approach

Christianity has been such an integral part of the history and development of western civilization that anything other than an education centered on the person of Jesus Christ fails at what it purports to be. Trinitas Christian School holds that all truth is God’s truth. We seek to integrate all subjects with historical Christianity and the teachings of the Scriptures in ways that are natural and not contrived. Our intent is to provide a clear model of the Christian life and a Biblical worldview through our staff, board, and volunteers so that every child is encouraged to develop a genuine and meaningful relationship with God through the person of Jesus Christ. Our goal is to foster the culture and environment of a Christian community that is inclusive. We are unapologetic in the assertion of doctrines which are central to orthodox Christianity, but students and faculty alike are welcome to their personal and denominational views on issues about which genuine believers disagree. This approach cultivates an appreciation for the views of others, while maintaining a confidence in one’s own views and those of one’s family and denomination.

Music, Arts, and Athletics

Music, Arts, and Athletics
Music and Arts
All Trinitas students have taken music and art classes through tenth grade as a core part of their education. From the beginning, we have offered private music instruction during the school day—more than a third of our students have taken voice, piano, violin, or other instrument lessons during the school day. In 2015 we began three choirs. Every student in 4th through twelfth grades is part of a Trinitas choir that performs multiple times each year.

Athletics
Trinitas began a varsity sports program in 2008, playing in the Panhandle Christian Conference. Since then our student-athletes have accumulated numerous division titles in soccer, volleyball, cross country, and baseball. We have also won conference championships in every sport in which we compete (most recently baseball - Spring 2019).

The Future

Trinitas has not strayed from its mission to provide a Christ-centered education in an academically stimulating environment. On the strength of classical methods and the good providence of God, we continue to provide an education that is unique in the Pensacola area, educating the heart, soul, and mind so that students are prepared not just for graduation but for all of life.
The Future
“We were blessed to join the Trinitas family in its first year and all three of my daughters are Trinitas graduates. Not only did they receive an excellent education, they matured as Christian young women who love the Lord and understand his sovereignty over all of his creation. All three went on to succeed in college and are now married with children of their own. We all benefited from our years as a Trinitas family and I recommend it highly to anyone who desires to raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”
