The Trinitas community is headed into the home stretch leading into the 4th Annual LoveThyNeighbor: Great Day of Giving event on Friday of this week!
Again this year, just over 300 Trinitas students, parents, grandparents, and alumni will be taking a break from regular routines and partnering with a dozen or so local non-profit community partners in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. The whole focus of the day is on loving our neighbors well. From kindergarteners, who will spend the day packing duffle bags with hygiene supplies for foster kids, to upper school students assisting with feeding the hungry in our community there will be plenty of love in action!
How about a quick look back at LoveThyNeighbor from 2019, 2020, and 2021?
Service to others is a Christian duty, and it is not new to Trinitas students. Over the years, Trinitas students have participated in hundreds of service projects; in fact, one of the requirements for graduation from Trinitas is to earn 160 hours of service in 9th – 12th grades. But nothing we do all year long rivals the thrill of seeing the entire school engaged in such a concerted and focused service effort in the community.
While we know Love Thy Neighbor is a blessing to the organizations and people we served, as is often the case, the volunteers doing the service may have received the greater blessing. Students and parents alike return at the end of a long day of serving with smiles on their faces and hearts aglow for the opportunities they had to give themselves to something far greater than themselves. While the great work of teaching children to read and write and reason is an important calling, training them in the virtue of Christian service is of far greater eternal value. It is an honor for Trinitas to partner with Christian families and their churches to cultivate such virtue in the next generation of Christians.
We especially thank all those volunteers, sponsors, and community partners who make Love Thy Neighbor possible. This event would never happen without the overwhelming support we receive and the blessing of a loving and good God. May the Lord see fit to help us love our neighbors even better in the years to come!
